Bernice Sanders

Bernice Sanders was born on April 30, 1963 to the union of the late Zelman and Bernice (Weaver) Sanders in St. Louis, MO. Her family relocated to the East St. Louis, Illinois area where she was educated in the public school system. Preceding Bernice in death, her parents, Zelman and Bernice Sanders, four beloved sisters, Earnestine Jones, Maggie Porter, Diane Sanders and Dorothy Williams. Bernice’s charisma and organizational abilities led her to work in the clerical field. She attended State Community College in East St. Louis, IL., which paved the way for many office assignments and management positions throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. Bernice deemed her two greatest accomplishments in the world was having her precious daughter Brooke and accepting Christ as her personal Savior. These two things never failed her and they always brought her joy. Bernice’s contagious laugh, wholesome conversations, and her “passion for fashion” will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Bernice departed this life on July 7, 2016 to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memories, her only child, Brooke Olivia Lewis of Belleville, IL.; three sisters, Barbara Phillips of East St. Louis, IL., Jeanette (Steven) Rowe of Millstadt,IL., and Joyce Sanders of Belleville, IL.; one brother, Zelman Sanders Jr. of Washington Park, IL.; two aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
