Clara Louise Murrie “Bay”

Clara Murrie was born November 5,1942 in Newellton, LA to the union of William and Henrietta Glover. Her beloved parents and brother Moses Glover all preceded her in death. Clara was affectionately known by family and close friends as “Bay”. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Macedonia Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Norman E. Owens, Sr., where she remained a faithful member until her health failed her. She served on various committees most notably the Usher Board and sang with the adult choirs. Clara received her formative education in Newellton School District, and received a Bachelor Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Clara united in Holy Matrimony with Eddie Murrie, where Rev. Norman E. Owens Sr. blessed this union. She was employed with the Saint Louis Public School system in the earlier part of her career and Dunbar Elementary School where she finished and retired in 2009. Clara loved God, children, education and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She made her transition from life to death on July 6,2016. She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter Towanna Hankins of Belleville, and two sons, Jimmie Jackson Sr. of Belleville, IL. and Donald Glover of East St. Louis, IL.; sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one brother, William Glover Jr. of East St. Louis, IL.; three sisters, Bernice Wright of Berkley, CA, Mary Bass of East St. Louis, IL., and Stella Glover of East St. Louis, IL.; her best friend, Lesa Huston and a host of other relatives and friends.
