Delores Brison-Davis

Delores “Sissy” Brison-Davis of Belleville, Illinois passed Friday, May 20th, 2016. The life and legacy of Delores “Sissy” Brison-Davis is a story of love, charity and humanitarianism. Sissy entered this world on October 4, 1947 with a twin brother named L.D. They both were not expected to live through the night but she did. She was born into the union of Ollie Pitts and Will Brison but was raised by Essie Mae and Emmitt Brison Sr. Her father, Will Brison; two brothers, Willie Jean Brison and Grant Brison; two sisters, Selma Sykes and Ruby Smith, and one great-granddaughter, JaMaryia Hawkins preceded her in death. Sissy was baptized and accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She attended Vashon High School and believed in the fight for justice and civil rights for all African Americans. Sissy gave birth to five beautiful children; Michael, Louis, Toni, Stacy and Ron. As a Mother, she raised them the best she knew how. Sissy met and fell in love with James Wilson 19 years ago and he has stood by her side until the very end. Sissy was known and loved by all who knew her. She was well-known for her magic in cooking large pots of southern style greens. Sissy loved making music, DVDs and following her family and friends on Face Book. She loved her work as a librarian during her stay in California. She courageously stood behind the freedom movement lead by the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and was honored to vote for the 1st Black President of the United States of America. Sissy loved her family and enjoyed participating in family reunions where she would receive many hugs and kisses with outpours of love, all centered around unity and thanksgiving. She will truly be missed by us all. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Ollie Pitts of Marianna Arkansas; James Wilson of Belleville Illinois; two sons Michael (Monica) Brison of St. Louis Missouri, Louis (Cookie) Berryman of Cahokia, Illinois; Ron (Kara) Berryman of Mason City Illinois; two daughters Mary Berryman of East St. Louis, Illinois and Stacy (Presley) Nicholson of Nashville Tennessee.
