Helen Holman

Helen Holman was born March 6, 1924 in Webb, Mississippi to Victoria Dunn and James Bradley. Helen was raised by her mother Victoria and step-father Quincy Dunn. On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, God gathered our beloved Helen into his arms and took her home to rest at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by: her husband, James Holman Sr., her sons: James Holman Jr. and spouse Ida B. Holman, Herman Holman, Donald Holman: daughter Dorothy Holman Forrest and spouse John Forrest, grandson, Darryl Holman; her parents, Victoria Dunn, Quincy Dunn and James Bradley, her sister, Ella Mae Starks, her brother, George Dunn, niece, Sara Fleming and spouse Otha Fleming. Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Turner Chapel, in Ruleville, Mississippi. She and her husband James Holman Sr. later relocated to East Saint Louis, Illinois and joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Helen was educated in the Mississippi Public Schools System. She was a housewife and loved fishing during her spare time. One of Helen’s proudest moments was when she delivered a neighbor’s (Delores Sanders) baby on 22nd Street in East St. Louis, Il. The mother named the baby Jacqueline. Helen was united in Holy Matrimony to James Holman Sr. on March 6, 1941. Sixteen children were blessed to this union. Helen leaves to cherish her loving memory: her children, John (Arlenda) Holman, Roy Holman, Blondine (Thomas) Jones – Scott, Barbara Holman, Jramuel Holman, Heaunitia (Anthony) Peoples, Alma Holman, Robert Holman, step-daughter, Beatrice Townsend; 39 grandchildren; 111 Great-grandchildren; 103 Great-great grandchildren; niece, Ora Lee Jackson; sister in-laws, Ruth Moore and Ethel Weston.
