Ms. Lillie Byrd, was born March 5, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri, to the union of Mr. Richard and Mrs. Beatrice Byrd. She was preceded in death by one son; Devion Byrd, both parents, two brothers; Lonnie and Charlie Byrd, five sisters; Geneva Byrd, Mary Crawford, Thereta Richardson, Elizabeth Curren and Shirley McClarin and the father of her children; Benjamin Carroll. In 1970 Lillie met the father of her children to this union three children were born. Lillie was educated in the East St. Louis Public School. She graduated from Lincoln High school in 1972. She attended State Community College in E. St. Louis, IL. She was employed as a substitute teacher for District 189 for three years. Later, she began working as a laborer, at Reilly Tar and Chemical Company in Granite City, IL. in 1978. She retired in 1999 after 21 years of service. Lillie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Rev. H. A. Butler at Union Baptist Full Gospel Church. She later joined Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Vincent D. Collins. Ms. Lillie Byrd leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, two wonderful children; Marquisia (Willie) Bowles of Madison, IL. and Ae’theus Byrd of Granite City, IL. three grandchildren; ParSaphanie (Samuel) Rodgers of Madison, IL. Alaia Bowles and Antwon Bowles both of Madison, IL. one great grandchild; TaKiyah Rodgers, two sisters; Fannie (Charles) Mitchell of Belleville, IL. Doris (Willie) Sanderlin of E. St. Louis, IL.; Two brothers; Walter (Sandra) Byrd of E. St. Louis, IL. and Lester (Sharon) Byrd of Belleville, IL.; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
