Ms. Melanie Renee Tally was born was born on April 20, 1968 to the union of her parents, Robert Tally, Jr. and Doris L. Tally in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was preceded in death by both parents; step mother, Mary Tally; grandmothers, Mildred O. Young and Fannie Mae Tally; grandfathers, Granville Young and Robert Tally, Sr; and brother, Calvin L. Tally. Melanie attended Assumption Catholic High School where she received her high school diploma in 1986. On May 5, 1987 she enlisted in the United States Air Force. She served 5 years, both active duty and reserve. After her experience in the military, she worked at the President Casino for many years. She went on to further her career at the United States Postal Service. All that knew Melanie, knew she was a protective mother that wanted the very best for her children. In 2008, God blessed her with a loving granddaughter. Melanie loved spending quality time with her family and friends, especially her granddaughter Zamiyah. She enjoyed being active, playing her favorite slot machines and being on the dance floor. She was the life of the party and knew how to have a good time. Melanie will be remembered for her generosity, compassionate ways, outgoing and straightforward personality. She will truly be missed by many. On Sunday, June 25, 2017 God called his beloved daughter home. Melanie leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Tiffany Smith; son, Jonathan Johnson; granddaughter, Zamiyah Willis; brother, Robert (Erica) Tally; sisters, Lorri (Leroy) Maxey, Tracie (William) Bryant, one stepbrother, three stepsisters; four nephews, five nieces, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, great -nephews and friends.
