Virginia Hollis

Virginia Theresa Hollis of Belleville, Illinois was born April 13, 1956 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois to the union of Robert and Sarah King. She passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Russell Hollis, Jr; and her brothers Ronald McNeil and Robin King. Virginia graduated from Madison Senior High School in the Class of ’74. For more than 30 years, she worked for US Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank. She accepted Christ in 1978 at Church of God in Christ Congregational Church in Madison,Illinois. In 2009, she joined New Life in Christ Interdenominational Church where she was a LifeChanger to all she met and served faithfully until her passing. She was part of the plant team and served at New Life North as an Usher. Known for her love of family, especially her children and grandchildren, Virginia was witty and always honest in her interactions with those she loved. She was a private person, but kept her friends and family close. She enjoyed shopping and liked to sing. She kept her music going at home and in her car. She was a woman of great, unwavering faith who was never idle and always serving God. Virginia was an avid reader and found solace in reading the word to sustain her undying faith. She had an infectious smile and caring spirit that made everyone comfortable around her. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Deon (Jerrett) January and Janell Hollis both of Belleville, IL; her siblings Donald (Christie) King Of Woodbridge, VA; Sharon King and Alonzo (Jacqueline) King, both of Belleville, IL; Martin King of Kansas City, MO; Patricia (Ezra) Ferrell of Madison, IL and Rodney (Carol) Cobbler and Nickole (Timothy) Wallace both of St Louis, MO; her aunts Gertrude Gray and Betty Gerrell both of Savannah, GA; her uncle Lonell King of East St Louis, IL; 13 Grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, fellow LifeChangers and family from near and far.
